My experience here at SCCC/ATS :)
SCCC/ATS has been a great place to start out! I have made many memories that I will never forget. I know the friends I have made will be lifelong friends. The college and staff are very welcoming and friendly. The campus isn't very big so it is not overwhelming at all. The classes are small and you get to know everyone. The teachers are always here to listen and help out in any way possible. The dorms are a great place to live and experience living away from home. The dorm directors keep it fun for the students. Working on campus has been a positive thing for me. I worked in the admissions office and it has been a great experience. I got to interact with current as well as future students. I worked school activites like career day and xtreme challenge. I enjoyed giving tours to future students. I really liked coming here to college. It was affordable and close to home! I will take the things I have learned at SCCC/ATS and carry them over as I finish my degree at Emporia State University!

Preparing for Finals
Preparing for finals can be tough for most college students. You have to sit down and study when you really want to be hanging out with your friends and watching netflix all day. The best way to get ready for finals is to manage your time studying. Don't over study to where you're burnt out and don't want to study for other class finals. Look over all the final reviews you have even if the next final is in 2 days. Then you can have an idea of what may be on that final so the information won't be so new to you. Also, right before the class final begins, look over the study guide. This will help bring back what you've studied. Hope this helps and good luck on finals!!!!! :)

Transfering & Trio
Have you ever thought about transfering and continuing your education on to receieve a higher degree? Some people come to SCCC/ATS to just get an associates and go straight to the work force. While others want to get a bachelors degree which is a four year degree so they transfer after two years here at SCCC/ATS. Some jobs pay more the higher the degree you recieve. This is always a good thing! Seward County is a great place to start and we have many services to offer each student who plans on transfering. One of theses services available is Trio! Trio is a student support service and all students are welcome to apply. It is for first generation or low income students that need extra help while at SCCC/ATS. They offer advising, financial advice, and even tutoring. Some student's parents have never had a kid in college or been to college themselves so they are also new to it all. Trio can help you make that next step an easier one. They even take students on transfer visits to other colleges for free! It's definetly something to think about!

Xtreme Challenge!
Xtreme Challenge was always one of the biggest events that caught my attention when I was a high school student. At Elkhart High School, we were always getting prepared for it, and almost every student joined in. It is a chance to compete with other schools in areas that every student can be successful in. Challenges exist in every area that you could think of: math, English, music, PE, art, mechanics, business, accounting, science, drama, cosmetology, agriculture, and so many others! You can find out what you are good at, and use it to your advantage. Xtreme Challenge also gives high school students a chance to explore the college, meet new people, and get out of their comfort zones. Many activities require critical thinking and other important skills that will be helpful in your future. Not only is this a competition among schools, but it could also be a great way to learn new things from other students that you may not have already known. Students in similar competitions are able to meet each other and interact in the area that they are competing in. Xtreme Challenge is one of the biggest events here at SCCC/ATS that high school students look forward to. It is a great opportunity to learn new things, meet new people, and explore the campus to see if this is the right school for you. Don’t miss your chance next year to have a day of fun, learning, and exploring here at Seward County Community College!!

Living off campus
Many students attending SCCC/ATS live off campus or in surrounding towns, and living off campus definitely has its pros and cons. Some of the pros to living off campus for me include: I get a home cooked meal almost every night for dinner, I get to sleep in my own bed every night, I don’t have to worry about other students distracting me while doing homework, and I get to spend some quality time with my family. Those are just some of the perks to living off campus for me, but there are also some cons to go along with them such as: I miss out on the activities for dorm students, I haven’t gotten to know as many people as the students living in the dorms have, I can’t wake up five minutes before class and still make it on time (I actually have to get up a little early), and I spend a lot of money on gas driving back and forth every single day. These are just a few of the good and the bad things that come with me living off campus. One thing I wish I could have done during my first two years of college was living on campus and getting the dorm life experience. When given an opportunity to meet new people and be a part of the college life, you should definitely take it. Don’t pass up the little things.

Admissions office :)
As a working college student here at SCCC/ATS I have experienced many things. The Admissions office has been great! They work well with my everyday life and I get to do a variety of activites for the college. The office worked with me as I helped coach the Hugoton girls basketball team. I've always wanted to coach and this has been fun to watch these girls work so hard. I would like to thank the SCCC Admissions office for supporting me! I have two jobs I enjoy greatly. The Admissions office is the place to work! & I would like to give a shout-out to the Hugoton girls going to STATE! GOOD LUCK!
